Volkswagen ID.4 (2021): 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test

The new all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 SUV achieves the maximum score of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.

Like its Czech cousin Skoda Enyaq iV, the new Volkswagen ID.4 also engaged in the very difficult exercise of the crash test by Euro NCAP: the new 100% electric SUV of Volkswagen obtained the maximum five-star rating crash tests from the European body specializing in vehicle safety assessment.

Volkswagen ID.4 crash test: very good mention

Indeed, the Volkswagen ID.4 has the Local Hazard Warning as standard, equipment not available on its Czech counterpart. This communication system based on Wi-Fi p enables the vehicle to automatically signal a dangerous situation to other compatible vehicles in the vicinity: an accident, a traffic jam or the presence of an intervention vehicle. This equipment is found in particular on the Volkswagen Golf 8, as well as the models of the ID range.

“Safety has evolved, and the biggest advances are now being made using high technology to prevent accidents. Volkswagen is showing what can be achieved, and Euro NCAP congratulates them for offering their customers the highest level of safety. “, according to Michiel van Ratingen, secretary general of Euro NCAP.

For the rest, the ID.4 has robust structures to protect both the occupants and its high voltage battery. Other standard equipment helps to increase the safety of the model, such as a airbag central which protects the driver and front passenger from mutual contact in the event of a side collision. During the crash test conducted by Euro NCAP, this airbag showed its good level of protection for the heads of the two front occupants.
