California Motors imports, approves and services all types of American cars

Driving in an American car is no longer a dream when California Motors takes care of the import, sale and approval of the vehicle.

To take care of beautiful Americans, you have to have the US culture twisted to the body, love the body as much as the mechanics, know how to track down the right opportunity on the other side of the Atlantic. This is how out of passion, Antoine Gautier created his company in 2015, California Motors, in reference to these dream cars that haunt Hollywood series and films. At his side, Mélodie Bouchet, the pro of tough negotiations with the administrations to import and homologate cars from countries outside the European Union.

Based in Pontault-Combault (77), the company is located less than an hour from the Linas-Montlhéry autodrome (91), where UTAC (Union Technique de l’Automobile, du motocycle et du Cycle) which allow a vehicle to be certified as compliant.

An All-in-One specialization

Workshop, offices and indoor parking spaces occupy the 500 m2 premises of California Motors, which also has fifteen secure outdoor parking spaces. It is in these premises that all American customers’ vehicles are repaired and maintained or that classic cars are transformed to run on LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). This is also where the long certification process begins. “Importing a car from abroad can become a headache for the person who does not know that his vehicle is not allowed to drive in Europe if it has not been approved,” says Antoine Gautier. Our job is to make the vehicle registration legal. The client prepares the documents requested by the administration and we take care of all the compulsory tests in Linas-Montlhéry ”.

A rise in sales of new cars

More than 50% of California Motos’ business is made up of the sale of Dodge RAM-1500s. “These pick-ups are really popular at the moment, admits Antoine Gautier. We import them new, we take care of the approval and their maintenance. We are also at the forefront of repairing and maintaining any vehicle model imported from the United States, Canada or Mexico from manufacturers Ford, Dodge (RAM, Jeep, Chrysler) or General Motors (Cadillac, Chevrolet). We have the necessary parts for their general maintenance. If a specific problem arises, we have the network to order and quickly obtain the right part ”.

Finally, California Motors can even take care of finding a specific model (color, year, collector’s vehicle) if the clientele so wishes: “We work with trusted intermediaries in Canada or California,” concludes Antoine Gautier. We adapt to demand and budget to find the rare pearl ”.
