An automotive designer has imagined the future ID.2, a versatile 100% electric city car that would join the Volkswagen ID range.
After the compact ID.3, the SUV ID.4, as well as its seven-seater version ID.6, the Volkswagen ID family. will expand in the years to come with the future electric Combi, prefigured by the ID.Buzz concept car, and many other models. With this new range, Volkswagen aims to become the world leader in 100% electric models.
And this range could also be brought to expand from below: indeed, the Volkswagen e-Up! should be replaced by a future Volkswagen ID.1 by 2023, a small 100% electric city car that would also be complemented by a version of the B segment, dubbed Volkswagen ID.2.
A model already imagined by the Brazilian car designer Kleber Silva, who was inspired by the Volkswagen Polo to imagine his 100% electric variant ID.2. Like the future ID.1, the Volkswagen ID.2 is expected to feature new battery technology, called lithium-ion phosphate de fer (LFP), less expensive and which should therefore reduce production costs. The LFP will also offer a better lifespan, as well as more safety.
Even if no official information has yet filtered out on this subject, according to the latest rumors, the future Volkswagen ID.2 should be equipped with an engine of around 100 to 150 horsepower, and a battery of around 60 kWh. . It would also be marketed around 20,000 euros… To be continued!
