its front face shown in photo

The new generation of the heir to the Combi will soon be presented: to help us wait, Volkswagen is unveiling a new teaser photo of its front panel.

Volkswagen will soon present the fifth generation of its Multivan, a variation of the Transporter dedicated to leisure. After a first teaser which revealed to us the new light signature of the model as well as its front face in the semi-darkness, the German manufacturer gives us a new more detailed photo of it.

Unsurprisingly, we discover cubic shapes in the tradition of the current generation of
Volkswagen Multivan, with styling elements that make it more modern: like the Golf 8, a luminous border connects the two headlights to visually expand its shield, while highlighting the new Volkswagen badge in the center of its grille. The whole seems to have a two-tone paint, marrying gray with orange, in the same spirit as the current generation.

Volkswagen Multivan (2021): a new automatic gearbox order

The Wolfsburg firm takes the opportunity to unveil a new feature of the future Multivan: it will be equipped with a standard DSG double clutch gearbox, shift-by-wire control technology. The gearbox mechanism is now electric, which makes it possible to imagine more ergonomic gearbox controls, or in this case, more compact in order to improve the space on board.

Indeed, the imposing gear lever will be removed in favor of a small switch integrated into the new dashboard, to the right of the steering wheel and near the10 inch touch screen of the infotainment system. The handbrake lever disappears also, in favor of a button controlling the electric parking brake. All these improvements make it possible to free up the space between the front seats, allowing in particular the integration of a multifunction table as center console.

To facilitate maneuvering, a 360 ° parking camera will also be available as an option. While 100% electric engines will be reserved for the production version of the ID.Buzz concept car, the new Volkswagen Multivan should have a plug-in hybrid powertrain, whose characteristics will be unveiled shortly.

The fifth generation of the Volkswagen Multivan will be officially presented in the spring, for marketing scheduled for this year 2021.
