299 hp for the sporty electric SUV

Volkswagen is launching the GTX coat of arms, dedicated to the sports versions of its ID electric range. The first model to benefit from it, the ID.4 SUV sees its power go up to 299 hp thanks to it!

At Volkswagen, we were familiar with the GTI (gasoline), GTD (diesel) and GTE (plug-in hybrid) badges, synonymous with increased sportiness. From now on, it will also be necessary to reckon with the GTX logo. The manufacturer has indeed just launched this new label, dedicated to the sporty versions of its ID electric range.

A second engine and 299 hp in total

And as announced in recent days, the first vehicle to benefit from it is the ID.4. Thus marked, the SUV hasan electric motor on each of the two axles. Compared to the “classic” 204 ​​hp ID.4, a second electric motor is in fact installed on the front axle. The model thus benefits from a all-wheel drive and develop a total power of 299 hp. Enough to swallow the 0 to 60 km / h in 3.2 seconds and the 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds, all with a top speed restricted to 180 km / h, against 8.5 seconds on the 0 to 100 and 160 km / h “max” for the ID.4.

A specific look for the GTX version

This GTX version also stands out thanks to specific design elements. On the menu: redesigned shields, a unique light signature (three honeycomb elements in particular form the daytime running lights) and LED rear lights with 3D effect.

The roof and rear spoiler are displayed on their side in a black tint, while the roof frame is in anthracite. “The body color is more dominant than on rear-wheel drive models,” Volkswagen also specifies.

The interior is also revised with, mainly, a new color palette. “The upper section of the instrument panel and the faux leather inserts of the doors are in a Dark Blue (X-Blue) shade, synonymous with durability. Contrasting red stitching, symbols of sportiness and power, add a seductive touch to the seats. », Explains the brand.

The GTX logo appears on the steering wheel, door sills and on the upper part of the front seat backrests.

Above € 50,000

The ID.4 GTX will be launched in Europe during summer 2021. Its French prices have not yet been communicated but it will be displayed in Germany from 50,415 euros.

After him, other GTX models will follow. This emblem could in particular be found on the ID.5 which will be the production version of the ID Crozz concept car and a coupe variant of the ID.4.
