Good news at Stellantis. Stopped since April 19 following the semiconductor shortage which hits the automotive industry, production resumed within the PSA plant in Rennes-La Janais.
“Production resumed this morning,” the plant’s communications department told AFP. “The semiconductor crisis is not completely over, we are maintaining our monitoring system concerning the supply of semiconductors,” added the same source.
The production had also been stopped mid-March and early April for the same reasons, which had led the CFDT to worry about the “duration of this crisis” and its “financial impact for employees”.
Located in Ille-et-Vilaine (35), near Rennes, (35), the La Janais site, built in 1961, covers 138 hectares and is one of the main French factories of the Stellantis group. Some 2,000 people there currently produce Peugeot 5008 and Citroën C5 Aircross. Almost 94,600 vehicles were manufactured here in 2020, 80% of which were exported to 150 countries.
