The young Chinese manufacturer Aiways unveils its second production model: after the U5 electric SUV, it’s time for the U6 zero-emission coupe SUV!
And two! The young Chinese manufacturer Aiways unveils its second production model. After the U5 electric SUV, available in France for several months, the brand presents the U6, an SUV … cut, still zero emissions.
This is the production version of the U6 ion concept which was presented in the summer of 2020 at the auto show in Chengdu, China.
Based on the same MAS platform (More Adaptable Structure) that the U5, U6 displays one of the most dynamic styles. On the menu: fluid lines, a massive front end, a high beltline, sharp lights, large air intakes and large wheels. Without forgetting of course a plunging roofline typical of the coupés. Like the original concept, the vehicle seems to come straight out of a Japanese manga.
Inside, however, the atmosphere is a little more traditional and even draws towards the minimalist with a sleek dashboard and an instrument cluster reduced to its simplest form. We note all the same the presence of a very large central touch screen and especially ofan imposing drive selector luxury yacht style. An induction smartphone charging system, customizable lighting and wraparound seats are also present on board.
Aiways said nothing on the other hand about the technical sheet of the machine. On the engine side, however, the U6 could resume the 204 hp electrical unit of the U5 and claim a range of over 400 or even 500 km thanks in particular to a 63 kWh battery and very sophisticated aerodynamics. One thing is certain: the vehicle will arrive at our place. It will be marketed in China and in Europe by the end of the year.
In the meantime, to familiarize yourself with Aiways, discover the U5 test in video.
