What is the new DS 9 worth against the German references? The answer in video!
After a first video contact, it’s time tofull test for the new DS 9! The large premium sedan arrives in France and wants heckle German references : BMW 5 Series, Mercedes Class E, and Audi A6.
For what result? The answer in video here:
As a reminder, the DS 9 is a long road (5.90m), produced in China on the technical basis of the Peugeot 508. It adds the typical DS codes: an atypical design (even if it is a little more classic here), quality materials, and a presentation full of original details. We can for example note the ornament of the hood, very statutory, the very successful upholstery, or the BRM clock which sits in the middle of the dashboard.
For this road, DS has decided to move away from German standards, often focused on dynamism. The French house preferred focus on comfort, with a damping controlled by a camera, which scans the road and allowsabsorb imperfections. And it is very successful, the comfort is royal, obviously at the cost of a lack of dynamism in the investments.
But this PureTech 225 version makes thedeadlock on batteries hybrid versions, which are suddenly 300 kg heavier, and it shows: the changes of direction are less clumsy, and the times are very correct, even if this 4 cylinder 1.6L turbo is ultimately a bit ordinary in the face of the competition.
In short, a very successful whole, which will catch the eye of owners of lower level sedans, thanks to more attractive prices than those charged by BMW, Audi or Mercedes.
