After the neon lights under the car, the multicolored interior lighting, here are the LED brakes… We can’t stop progress!
If you think tuning-style neon lights are the ultimate in style, good news! The Italian supplier Brembo has just unveiled a concept of brake calipers equipped with LED lighting.
This light, located on the piston and on the top of the caliper, can change color easily and be controlled from the cabin with a wireless function.
The objective is to fulfill three functions, according to Brembo: aesthetic first, leaving the driver customize the look of its brakes. A role of security witness then, for example by informing the owner of the condition of the brakes by changing the color when stationary. Useful to know if it is soon time to change pads! And finally, a cue function, if you are looking for your car in a parking lot, for example. Of course, there won’t be fifteen other vehicles with pink-lit brakes…
If the idea may seem a little laughable, Brembo recalls that this is only a concept for celebrate 60 years of the equipment manufacturer. Besides, the pictures show a motorcycle caliper, although Brembo says the technology can easily be suitable for a car. On the other hand, we imagine that with brake dust and other dirt, it will be difficult to keep the flashy look of these illuminated calipers without having to make sure to clean them regularly.
