the electric minivan unveiled!

Mercedes today unveils the EQT concept, the 100% electric variant of the future T-Class MPV.

Mercedes today unveils a concept of 100% electric recreational vehicle, l’EQT ! Very close to a future production version, this prototype is the electrified version of the future T-Class.

The vehicle combines both a spacious interior, accommodating up to seven people, as well as a generous space for the luggage compartment. It brings together all of the brand’s know-how in terms of attractiveness, comfort, functionality, connectivity and high-level security.

Premium style that shines

In terms of design, this concept EQT show that Mercedes very clearly wishes to position itself at the top of the range in the segment of small vans for families.

The firm has taken care of the style and general design to give a premium aspect to its van : the grille is for example fitted with a shiny star pattern, with two LED lights on each side. Regarding the rear, the lights, still LED, are tapered and connected by a light strip that runs the entire width of the vehicle.

We also note the presence of a panoramic roof, as well as 21-inch rims in glossy finish, adorned with small stylized stars.

The set gives a design with a refined aesthetic but with a premium aspect assumed.

An interior that is both modern but simple

The interior of the Concept EQT is just as contrasted as the exterior, with this mix of black, white and brilliant blue in the dashboard surrounds.

The seats are covered with put nappa blanc and several parts of the dashboard are also in pristine white.

At the level of the dashboard, the whole is finally enough ” simple“, We do not find completely digital instrumentation for example. Instead, a classic needle counter takes place on the dashboard.

The display is classic without digital instrumentation, with a simple needle counter

In terms of on-board technologies, we find the MBUX infotainment system intuitive Mercedes, which can be operated via a central touchscreen and optionally with the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. The system is able to “learn” thanks to artificial intelligence

and can anticipate the driver’s intentions, depending on his habits.

In relation with Mercedes me connect, navigation services and functions specific to electric vehicles are also offered, such as the display of charging stations, battery life and optimized route planning.

A spacious vehicle with maximum comfort

The EQT concept offers comfortable dimensions (4.94m long, 1.86m wide and 1.82m high) and has sliding doors on both sides, with particularly wide openings.

L’interior space is vast and the panoramic roof offers a open view for all occupants. With this roof opening and these white seats, we imagine maximum brightness in the cabin, which contrasts with the shiny black exterior of the body.

The set is also fully modular, with folding seats to leave more space in the trunk. If necessary, they can even be removed to provide even more luggage space.

An electric longboard as a bonus!

Concept requires, Mercedes pays a little in the originality by announcing the presence of a futuristic electric longboard, integrated in the load compartment.

The latter is made of aluminum and has a neat finish with a star pattern. Not sure, however, that this board is found in the production version …

A launch in 2022

With this EQT concept, Mercedes presents a van that breaks the codes of the classic MPV: in addition to a undeniable comfort on board and a worked space, the vehicle also offers its occupants a premium assumed to attract potential new customers.

For the moment nothing is announced yet concerning the engines, but we suspect that the model will probably be similar to the Electric kangoo, which adopts an engine of 75 kW, or 102 hp.

The EQT model, which is quite simply the electric version of the future Class T, should be offered in 2022.
