The DeLorean, also known as DMC-12, is a unique coupé with an all-stainless steel body, fitted with butterfly doors and styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. It is the only model produced by the DeLorean Motor Company between 1981 and 1982, before the bankruptcy of the company: it is estimated that 9,200 DMC-12 were produced, and that approximately 6,500 copies remain today.

Despite a short commercial career, the DeLorean DMC-12 is now particularly sought after by collectors, since the success of the trilogy Back to the future in which she was transformed into a time machine.

DeLorean DMC-12 (1982): 10,900 km on the odometer

This copy, bearing the serial number SCEDT26T5CD011262 and dating from January 1982, will soon be offered for auction. It only displays 6,791 miles on the odometer, which is the equivalent of 10.929 km, and belonged to a couple living in Manhattan, who only used it on weekends and for special occasions. The car then went sold to collector Glenn C. Gould Jr in the 1990s, and was registered « OUTAT1ME » in New York State, a nod to the film’s DeLorean.

According to auction house Bonhams, this is probably one of the best-preserved copies of the DeLorean DMC-12 to date. The car is indeed in very good condition, with the original Goodyear NCT tires, and is supplied with its original parts and manuals. Also in perfect condition, the engine is a 130 horsepower 2.9 liter PRV V6, which was Made in France by the French Mechanics factory, today Stellantis Douvrin.

This superb DeLorean DMC-12 will be auctioned on May 20, 2021 in Florida, United States, on the occasion of the Amelia Island sale organized by Bonhams. Its price is already estimated at around 21,000 to 29,000 euros, without reserve price.
