To attack the German references that are Audi, BMW and Mercedes, Genesis unveils its first model specific to Europe: the G70 Shooting Brake!
In early May, Genesis took everyone by surprise by announcing its imminent arrival in Europe. Hyundai’s premium brand had until then focused on the United States, with cars looking to compete with German references but at slightly lower rates. And today, the South Korean manufacturer unveils its first model developed specifically for the Old Continent: the G70 Shooting Brake.
As its name suggests, this is a station wagon version of the G70 sedan, competing with the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes Class C. Unsurprisingly, it takes the design of the sedan version, with a large diamond-shaped grille and optics separated into two parallel lines. At the rear, the station wagon follows la mode des « shooting brake », more dynamic with a receding roofline. The rear lights follow the pattern of the lighting at the front. Even if we leave you, as always, to be the judges of the style, the latter is intended to be very attractive.
The dimensions remain the same as the sedan version, with 4.69 m long, 1.85 m wide and 1.40 m high. The technique, too, should be renewed, with a choice of three engines : a 255 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine, a 370 hp petrol V6, and a 202 hp diesel. Enough to appeal to difficult European customers, who remain more fond of station wagons than the Americans.
While the brand will launch this summer in Europe with the large sedan G80 and the SUV GV80, the G70, G70 Shooting Brake and SUV GV70 will be available by the end of the year. The prices are not yet available, but given the prices charged by the brand in the United States, we can expect to see this Shooting Brake version land. just below 40,000 €. Still, Genesis has not yet confirmed its Arrived in France, favoring for the moment the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland. To be continued…
