Ford unveils quirky video where its new Puma ST sports SUV takes on the Puma ST RC, a 1/10 scale radio-controlled carth !
The Ford Puma ST is the first sports SUV in the Ford Performance division in Europe. It is equipped with a 1.5 liter EcoBoost petrol engine of 200 horsepower, offering the model the performance of a small sports car, with a 0 to 100 km / h in 6.7 seconds, a limited slip differential, sports suspensions and a drive mode selector.
To highlight these performances, Ford called on the British rally driver Louise Cook as well as the professional RC pilot Lee Martin, to make an unusual video where the sporty compact SUV faces its 1/10 scale radio-controlled (RC) replicath, on the circuit de Brands Hatch.
On this iconic UK track, the ‘real’ Puma ST is capable of completing a 1.9 kilometer lap of the ‘Indy’ circuit in one minute. The “small” Puma ST RC will be launched on the Brands Hatch karting track, a replica of the Indy circuit but only 220 meters long. The 1/10 scale carth will have to complete three laps in one minute.
This unique ‘Puma ST RC’ replica was commissioned by Ford and developed by the British company Designworks. 42 cm long and able to reach the speed of 80 km/h in 3 seconds, it has a 402 W electric motor, sending its power to the front wheels. Its body, dressed in Mean Green paint, is identical to that of the real Puma ST, except that it was made of polystyrene. The other elements (wheels, mirrors, windshield wipers, etc.) were made in impression 3D in order to reproduce as faithfully as possible the full-size model… Unfortunately, it is not available for sale!
