Mercedes has started production of the EQS, its new and luxurious all-electric sedan, at Factory 56 at the Sindelfingen site in Germany.
Important step for Mercedes. The German manufacturer comes from launch production of its new flagship, the EQS. The first copy of the luxurious 100% electric sedan has in fact rolled off the assembly lines of the Factory 56 plant at the Sindelfingen site in Germany.
Revealed on April 16, the EQS is the announced rival of the Tesla Model S. Sort of zero emission version of the S-Class, it measures 5,22 m de long, 1.93 m wide and 1.51 m high for a weight of about 2,500 kg.
Above all, it has an all-electric motor. Two power level will be offered at launch: 333 ch for the model EQS 450+ (one engine at the rear) or 523 ch for the version EQS 580 4Matic (an additional motor at the front for four-wheel drive). A more powerful variant of 760 hp will complete the range later.
Two battery capacities are also on the program: 90 and 107.8 kWh for a range of up to 770 km.
First Mercedes model based on the new EVA modular architecture (Electric Vehicle Architecture) dedicated to luxury electric vehicles, the EQS will be the new technological flagship of the star brand. As standard or as an option, it will include a 141 cm digital instrument panel Called Hyperscreen MBUX, an artificial intelligence system, automatic comfort doors at the front and rear or even an autonomous driving system (Drive Pilot). His arrival in Europe is scheduled for late summer 2021.
