This innovative material is already used by other car manufacturers, such as Fiat for example on its latest models, and contributes to the cleaning of aquatic environments. After selective sorting, the plastic is washed and transformed, to be then reused to create recycled polymer yarns Seaqual Yarn.
« With the Cupra Born, our first 100% electric vehicle, we are entering a new era. The partnership with Seaqual Initiative to create the seats for this new model demonstrates that sustainability, innovation and contemporary design are perfectly compatible. This is why we want to contribute to circular economy projects, and preserve a natural resource that is very close to us, the Mediterranean Sea.», Specifies Antonino Labate, Director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at Cupra.
Cupra thus supports marine litter cleaning programs, and goes even further with its future 100% electric compact model. Indeed, the Cupra Born will be manufactured at the Zwickau plant in Germany, on the same lines as the Volkswagen ID.3, with net CO neutrality.2 : the energy used to produce the vehicle comes from renewable sources, both for the supply and production of raw materials, while other polluting emissions are offset by investments and environmental projects.
