Visiting Pope Francis in the Vatican, Fisker presented his 100% electric Popemobile project, based on the Fisker Ocean SUV.
After a historic visit to the Vatican, Fisker announced that she will develop the whole first 100% electric Popemobile. The co-founders of the Californian firm, Henrik Fisker and Geeta Gupta-Fisker, have indeed met the Pope Francis a few days ago, in order to present their project for his future official vehicle.
The model that will serve as the basis for the future Popemobile is a Fisker Ocean, new 100% electric SUV de Fisker, who will receive a large glass dome for the occasion, allowing the Supreme Pontiff to greet the faithful as tradition dictates.
“I was inspired to read that Pope Francis was very attentive to the environment and the impact of climate change on future generations”, declares Henrik Fisker: “The interior of the Papal Fisker Ocean transport will contain a variety of sustainable materials, including rugs made from recycled plastic bottles from the ocean. “
While waiting for his new custom-made vehicle, which will be delivered next year, Pope Francis will continue his official visits aboard his Toyota Mirai. Production of the Fisker Ocean is slated to begin in November 2022, with more than 16,000 reservations to date. In Europe, the model will be marketed at a price of around 32,000 euros, according to the prices already announced for Germany.
