Highly anticipated, Tesla’s first 100% electric pickup has just passed the symbolic milestone of one million reservations.
When Tesla unveiled its all-electric pickup in 2019, reservations for the model were opened with a $ 100 deposit : a derisory sum which made it possible to rapidly inflate the figures for its launch. Indeed, a week later, Elon Musk announced that the Tesla Cybertruck had already reached 250,000 reservations.
But the craze for this futuristic-looking machine has not weakened, and the Cybertruck reached 650,000 reservations in June 2020, despite the coronavirus crisis. Today, if we are to believe the figures relayed by the Electrek site, the Tesla Cybertruck has exceeded the symbolic milestone of one million reservations.
In detail, the most popular models are the Dual Motor version (48%) displayed at 49,900 dollars, followed by the Tri Motor version (44.5%) at 69,900 dollars. Finally, the entry-level Single Motor version ($ 39,900) was reserved by 7.5% of customers.
Production of the Tesla Cybertruck is expected to begin by the end of 2021, but it is possible that it will be delayed as construction of the Tesla Texas Gigafactory, which will produce the Cybertruck, is not still completed.
It will have to count among its competitors the new Ford F-150 Lightning, recently unveiled: the manufacturer with the blue oval has already announced that its 100% electric pickup has registered no less than 44,000 reservations in space. 48 hours.
