should we crack despite its autonomy?

Honda’s electric city car is kneaded with quality and details that make it very endearing. But do its flaws make it impractical on a daily basis? Answer in our video essay.

Since its presentation, the Honda e has fascinated electric car enthusiasts. With his neo-retro design, and its very high-tech and zen atmosphere inside, it is almost unanimous. So much so that it has become one of the recent cars that causes the most favorites. But the electric city car also has some serious flaws. So, should we fall for the Honda e? The answer in our video essay:

The biggest of these faults is the very low autonomy of the Honda e. In the Advance version (a little more powerful than the basic version), Labo Auto Plus measured it at 152 km of autonomy on average. It is quite simply the worst in its category : around forty kilometers less than an electric Mini, 80 km less than the new Fiat 500, and even less than half of a Renault Zoe, however cheaper. Even more surprising: the latest Dacia Spring, the cheapest electric on the market, goes 10 km further… Results which do not match the prices announced by Honda: from 38 890 € for this Advance version, excluding ecological bonus.

Qualities to match its faults?

Fortunately, the Honda e is also kneaded with beautiful qualities. It is very well equipped first, with these famous screens that cross the entire width of the dashboard. In particular, the retro by camera are very practical in use, especially when using narrow streets. She is also of a very good comfort, thanks to flexible suspensions, which do not fall apart on the road. Finally, the excellent level of finish only reinforces the crush for the look unique of this Honda.

Verdict: easy to be tempted by this charming Honda e and very endearing. But before signing the (big) check, make sure it fits perfectly in your daily use. With its ridiculous autonomy, impossible to use it to go on weekends, even occasionally. But to make everyday commuting more enjoyable, the Honda e remains an attractive proposition.

In partnership with Japauto, Auto Plus presents the Honda e in all its details in a live performance with Malika Ménard, on June 3 at 6.30 p.m. Go here to register.
