This Traction Avant will cross the Americas on the Pan-American Highway, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego!
In a 1956 car like this Citroën Traction Avant 11B, every journey can become an adventure. So imagine crossing the Americas from Alaska to Ushuaia, or 40,000 km of roads and 14 different countries! This is the challenge launched by Fanny Adam, the adventurer behind the initiative. Following in the footsteps of legendary expeditions such as the Black Cruise of 1924, she will leave, with her co-pilots, meet indigenous peoples who still live in the Americas. By crossing all imaginable landscapes and climates.
The Citroën Traction avant has been modified for the occasion. The engine was reliable, a small backup heater installed for the colder stages like Alaska, and some added safety measures, like modern seats and belts. It will take at least that to face the Panamericaine, the longest continuous road in the world.
The crew has planned that this adventure will last for a year and a half, from July 2021 to January 2023. And if Fanny Adam, at the head of the project, will remain with the Traction Avant during the 40,000 kilometers, she will be accompanied by two different co-pilots. The crew leaves without assistance, but they can on the other hand count on the company of the various Citroën clubs in the countries they cross.
In short, a great project, the progress of which you can follow live on the dedicated site, terramerica.fr
