A Chinese battery factory located in Douai for Renault

According to Le Figaro, the Chinese Envision should announce within a few weeks the creation in Douai (North) of a large battery factory for Renault.

It’s no secret: Renault will largely electrify its range in the months and years to come. In the more or less long term, the diamond brand notably plans to launch the Mégane eVision and the new R5, both 100% electric.

To support this massive electrification, Luca de Meo, CEO of the French automotive group, aims to create a major electricity hub in the north of France. By 2025, the manufacturer intends to bring together in a subsidiary dedicated to electricity its three northern sites: Douai, Maubeuge and Ruitz, which represent nearly 5,000 employees.

The current Douai site, which today assembles the Scénic, Espace and Talisman, will be converted to the manufacture of new electric models and will become the heart of the device

. As proof, not far from the site, a new factory will also see the light of day
