In a few days, Dacia will offer a mid-career restyling to its Duster. A brief overview of the expected novelties …
In the years to come, that is to say by 2025, Dacia wishes move upmarket and expand its catalog, in particular by launching the Bigster, a large family SUV, or by replacing the Lodgy. But before arriving there, the Romanian manufacturer must manage the current affairs and this passes in particular by the update of one of its bestseller: the Duster.
Launched in 2017, the second generation of the famous adventurer is preparing to get a facelift via a mid-career restyling. Its presentation is even scheduled for the June 22. In the meantime, here is what we already know – or think we know – about this new version.
Main information at the sight of the first stolen photos which appeared recently on the net: Dacia will not revolutionize its Duster. Quite the contrary. Prized by the general public, the SUV will evolve only by small touches.
Outside, the brand should simply review its shields. The Duster will also feature a new Y-shaped light signature, as on the new Sandero.
On board, the changes should be a little more noticeable, notably with the arrival of a new infotainment system with 8-inch touchscreen tablet, borrowed directly from… the new Sandero. The design of the aerators should for its part be reworked for more modernity.
On the other hand, on the motoring side this should be the status quo, or almost. Still based on the same platform, the restyled Duster should not gain electrified blocks and will therefore probably leave with the same heat engines than its predecessor (petrol TCe 90, 130 and 150 hp, Blue dCi diesel 95 and 115 hp, plus LPG ECO-G 100). However, it is said that EDC automatic transmission could make a comeback. It could be associated with the TCE 150 petrol engine.
Like everything else, prices should not change significantly either and we can therefore expect an entry-level beginner like today. around 12,490 €. The marketing of this restyled Duster will probably take place at the back to school 2021. The Duster 3 should see the light of day in 2024, or even 2023.
