Volkswagen ID.4 test (2021): our opinion on the electric wagon in video

Volkswagen does not hide its ambition for the ID.4, this electric family SUV. For the German manufacturer, the ID.4 must become the “people’s car” of the future, even if it means being the only car in the household. A risky bet, especially since the compact ID.3 had rather disappointed. But the ID.4 is ultimately a good surprise : we tell you why in video.

Autonomy, roominess: the ID.4 scores points

First, the sinews of war: autonomy. And on this level, with more than 400 km of autonomy on average measured by Labo Auto Plus, the Volkswagen ID.4 is doing quite well, even better than its direct competition.

But before being an electric, the ID.4 must also be a station wagon. And from this point of view, we have to admit that Volkswagen has succeeded. The roominess is very good, including at the rear. The chest is generous

(540 liters), and the storage spaces are numerous and practical. We just regret the absence of an extra trunk at the front, especially as the ID.4 is rear-wheel drive, with its engine at the rear.

Behind the wheel, this Volkswagen ID.4 is also a great success. The interior is very quiet, the filtering is correct (but nothing more with the 21-inch wheels), and the behavior convincing.
