French customs equip themselves with electricity

The customs of Île-de-France are going electric! They recently received two copies of the Volkswagen ID.3 Pro.

Electricity is democratizing at high speed, including among law enforcement. This time, it is the customs officers of Île-de-France who are equipping themselves with electric cars.

Volkswagen ID.3 for customs

It is more precisely the Ile-de-France Customs Interregional Department which is equipped with electric vehicles.

The choice fell on the Pro version of the ID.3 of the German manufacturer Volkswagen. This version has a 58 kWh battery and offers nearly 420 kilometers of autonomy in the WLTP cycle according to the manufacturer. For comparison, a Renault Zoe phase 2 with the R135 engine associated with a 52 kWh battery offers up to 395 kilometers of range, still according to the WLTP cycle.

However, it is important to remember that in real traffic conditions, this autonomy is much less especially at high speed on the motorway for example.

But here, it is the performance argument that takes precedence rather than pure autonomy. Electric requires, the ID.3 offers clear and frank acceleration compared to a conventional thermal intervention vehicle.

A measure that is part of the “Bercy Vert” plan

According to Yannick Vanderghote, the head of Volkswagen France markets interviewed by our colleagues fromClean Automobile, the provision of electric vehicles within customs is part of the plan ” Bercy Green« .

The latter is implementing several initiatives focused on eco-responsibility. Among them, we find the promotion of the circular economy, more responsible digital technology, or the energy consumption reduction.

Finally, one of the most important points of this plan is that of sustainable mobility. The acquisition of these two ID.3 fits logically into this new momentum.
