MG continues to expand its range. After launching in 2020 the small electric SUV ZS EV (143 hp and 263 km of range) then the plug-in hybrid SUV EHS, the British brand, owned by Chinese SAIC, is preparing to market a third model. A third SUV: the Marvel R.

Announced last March, this SUV will arrive in concession in fall 2021. Waiting, MG details its characteristics a little more. The brand presents it in particular as a family model measuring 4.67 m long, 1.92 m wide and 1.62 m high, for 2.80 m of wheelbase. The trunk volume is between 357 and 1,396 liters once the rear seat is folded down. Depending on the version, a 150-liter front trunk is also on the program. The towing capacity is for its part displayed at 750 kg.

On the design side, the line is dynamic and the features are powerful. The interior is sleek and the high tech equipment including a large 19.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Two or three electric motors

MG also specifies today its motorization offer. Two variants will finally be available: one 180 hp rear-wheel drive version with two engines at the rear (410 Nm, 0 to 100 in 7.9s) and a 288 hp four-wheel drive version with a third motor on the front axle (665 Nm, 0 to 100 in 4.9s). In both cases, the top speed is capped at 200 km / h.

Up to 402 km of autonomy

Both also have the same 70 kWh battery. Count on respective ranges of 402 and 370 km (WLTP). In rapid charging, 43 min is sufficient to recover 80% of the battery (fast charge 11 kW three-phase).

Another specificity: the Marvel R is equipped with V2L technology (Vehicle to Load or reverse charge function), which will allow it to be a source of electrical power for other devices.

A range with three trim levels

Finally, three trim levels will be offered: “Comfort” and “Luxury” for the rear-wheel drive version and “Performance” for the four-wheel drive version.

« Comfort Is the entry level. It receives 18-inch rims, a panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate and dual-zone automatic air conditioning as standard.

« Luxury »Has 19-inch rims, an electric tailgate with hands-free opening, leather sports seats which are heated at the front and a 360-degree camera.

As for the top of the range ” Performance“, He adds in particular a Bose audio system.

A floor price set at € 40,000?

Prices have not yet communicated but should start around 40,000 €.
