ANCAP is the Australian and New Zealand equivalent of our EuroNCAP. This body judges the safety of cars in the event of d’accident according to very specific criteria and gives its final score in the form of stars. Since 1993, when the program was created, no vehicle has ever had the minimum 0 star rating! Today, it is done thanks to the Mitsubishi Express.
Indeed, when we see these images, we would prefer not to be on board in the event of an accident … In 3 of the 4 situations tested, the organization notably noticed “risk of serious injury to the chest”. That’s not all, “Potential points of contact with the knees” were noted during the frontal impacts as well as a possible “Partial ejection” through the loading door during side crashes.
The star rating works as follows: the lowest rating determines the overall score. In the case of this utility, it is the driving aids, or rather the total absence of these, which justifies this score. In this area, the Mitsubishi obtained only 7 small points out of 100! At the same time, it’s hard to do better when you’re not even equipped with seat belt reminders …
