The Lancia brand will be relaunched with three new models. On the menu, an arrival in the city car and compact segment.
Lancia sees its future becoming clearer. For many years confined to a single model, the Ypsilon sold mainly in Italy, the brand will launch on three new models.
The Lancia Ypsilon is a small car that has been produced since 2003. The first phase, built from 2003 to 2011, was a strict 3-door.
The second generation, upgraded to 5 doors, was presented in March 2011. It is now in its third version, sold only in Italy since 2017. It is therefore the only model currently marketed by the brand. As a result, it benefits from significant sales in the country.
Under the Fiat era, the CEO of the group Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Sergio Marchionne said in 2014 that the brand produced only one model, the Ypsilon.
Since joining the group Stellantis in 2021, under the leadership of Carlos Tavares, things are changing. And the Lancia brand does not cut it. Three models are therefore under study for the future. The range would consist of a city car, an urban crossover and a compact.
The city dweller could be a worthy replacement for the Ypsilon, which is currently in its third version. For its part, the compact vehicle will probably be able to revive the appellation Delta. Finally, the urban crossover will be a great first for the brand, which has never offered this type of vehicle. A wise choice, given the success of the segment.
In terms of design, it is Jean-Pierre Ploué, a French designer, who will supervise the project of these three new Lancias. “The rebirth of LANCIA is a truly exciting challenge. LANCIA is an emblematic brand, which will regain its historic central position in Europe, drawing on its enormous potential. ” did he declare.
