The Audi R8 V10 has been the German manufacturer’s fastest production model for years. But can the supercar compete with the all-new all-electric Audi RS e-tron GT?
To answer this question, the youtube channel Auditography aligned a Audi RS e-tron GT against a brand new Audi R8 V10 Performance Green Hell, a limited edition model launched last year.
The R8 is the most visually impressive and it is also the loudest, logically. But we notice that it also has a slight power deficit compared to the RS e-tron GT.
Indeed, while the R8 V10 Performance is equipped with an atmospheric 5.2-liter V10 developing 612 hp and 580 Nm of torque, the two electric motors of the RS e-tron GT combine 637 hp and 830 Nm with the function Overboost. Activated from the start, this feature allows the car to leap from the first seconds.
From the start, the two cars leap off the track. But it is the RS e-tron GT that takes the lead directly thanks to its instantaneous torque. The electrical energy allows the car to take a lead and keep it throughout the race.
Even though the R8 is a bit slower, it still offers a nice sound show for the duration of the race.
The RS e-tron GT only needed 2.85 seconds to reach 100 km / h, while the R8 made the same distance in 2.95 seconds.
The electric Audi also only needed 9.91 seconds to hit 200 km / h, compared to 10.2 seconds for the R8. Finally, the 400 meters were swallowed in 10.69 seconds for the RS e-tron GT against 10.95 seconds for the R8 V10 Performance.
