Dacia hires Aston Martin designer

After working for Lincoln, Citroën and above all Aston Martin for a decade, Miles Nürnberger will take up the post of Dacia and Lada design director next September.

Wouldn’t Dacia be in the process of becoming gentrified? For its future stylistic identity, the Romanian manufacturer has simply paid for the services of the former design boss Aston Martin Lagonda. Indeed, as of September 1, 2021, Miles Nürnberger will join Groupe Renault as design director for the brand Dacia, but also Lada. He will report to Laurens van den Acker, the group’s essential design boss. Miles Nürnberger comes to replace Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos Aguilar, who left for Alfa Romeo.

A welcome arrival at a booming manufacturer.

Dacia has ambition with a range that is constantly developing. The aging Logan withdrawn from the catalog, the Romanian offers a Sandero more “sexy” than ever, which is increasingly overshadowing the star Renault Clio. Without forgetting the small Dacia Spring, the brand’s first 100% electric model, packed with qualities at an unbeatable price … Miles Nürnberger will have to continue this good momentum and will have in particular the mission of concentrating on the SUV 7 places Bigster, expected by 2025.

“Projecting Dacia into the future”

“We are very happy to welcome Miles Nürnberger to our team at such an important time for the Dacia brand. Miles is a renowned designer who has inspired many people with his work at Aston Martin. His experience and his passion for building strong brands through design will be a great asset for Dacia and will help us to project Dacia into the future »Commented Laurens van den Acker.

The father of the first Aston Martin SUV, the DBX

Remember that Miles Nürnberger joined the prestigious British manufacturer in 2008 where he was responsible for exterior design before being appointed, ten years later, design director. He was notably in charge of the design of the DBX, the first SUV from the Gaydon manufacturer, and the Valkyrie, just like Lagonda revival as a 100% electric branch, illustrated by Vision Concept in sedan and SUV version.

Also at Citroën and Lincoln

Before joining Aston Martin Lagonda, Miles Nürnberger also moved to Citroën, but his first steps in the world of automotive design were with Lincoln.

“Born in 1976, into a family passionate about art, design and cars, Miles graduated in Automotive Design from Coventry University in 1998. In 2009 he was the winner of the Design Award Concorso d’eleganza Villa d’Este with the concept One–77« .
