Renault unveils a third version of its new Kangoo: the Kangoo TPMR, dedicated to the Transport of People with Reduced Mobility. Orders open in July 2021.
Unveiled last March and offered since in two versions (“Combispace” for families and “Van” in its utilitarian form), the third generation of the Renault Kangoo is now available in a new variant : TPMR.
Behind this acronym, which first appeared on the Express in 1987, hides a Kangoo dedicated to Transport of Persons with Reduced Mobility.
Renault has indeed added to the Kangoo Combispace a sliding access ramp to facilitate access on board. This ramp is positioned at the base of the vehicle. A first and “a real innovation” according to Renaut.
This “allows the occupant in a wheelchair to have an environment free of any visible discriminating element and to reduce the surrounding noise linked to the vibrations of the ramp when it is positioned in the passenger compartment. »Explains the brand.
“The TPMR version innovates by offering a unique solution on the European market. », Continues Rafaël Treguer, Managing Director of Renault Tech, a group entity specializing in industrial tailor-made for everyone. “The vehicle integrates the access ramp under the vehicle, which improves the acoustics and comfort of wheelchair users, facilitates handling by the attendant while making the vehicle more inclusive. “
In addition to this ramp, the new Kangoo TPMR also offers more comfort with a horizontal floor, non-slip and washable. It is also less inclined (going from 7 ° to 4 °) which allows the user in a wheelchair “to have good visibility of the road, to limit motion sickness and to be closer to other passengers. “
Modularity has also shown particular work with the integration of three individual seats in row 2 replacing the original bench.
“It is now possible to have several seat configurations and to adjust the number of passengers on the same vehicle: 3 individual seats + 1 wheelchair, 4 individual seats + 1 wheelchair or 5 individual seats without a wheelchair. », Details Renault.
Produced in France at the Renault Tech site in Heudebouville, in Normandy, the Kangoo TPMR will be available to order from July 2021. It will then be offered in 100 and 130 hp petrol engine, with manual or automatic gearbox.
