To celebrate 50 years of the victory of the Datsun 240Z on the 1971 Safari Rally, Nissan has designed a Juke designed for off-road …
Nissan won the 1971 Safari Rally 50 years ago with the mythical coupe Datsun 240Z. Today, the Japanese manufacturer is celebrating this anniversary by offering us a rally version of his new Juke !
In this configuration, the crossover puts on the same biton dress as the 240Z : red with a black hood and wheels. Like the coupe of the time, it also adopts long-range headlights. These are installed on its hood and on its roof.
And to appear even more adventurous, the urban crossover takes muscle. It is made more imposing than usual thanks to widened wheel arches which leave room for custom all-terrain tires.
On the other hand, on the mechanical side, the Juke Rally distances itself from its predecessor. Anxious to be part of his time, he opted not for a 2.4L inline six-cylinder 210 hp but for a hybrid engine, the specifics of which were however not specified by Nissan.
Obviously, it is not (yet) a version intended for competition but simplya concept straight out of the imagination of Nissan designers. Meanwhile, the Safari Rally 240Z, restored in 2013, has peaceful days in Nissan’s heritage collection. It is preciously preserved in Zama, near the manufacturer’s headquarters in the Japanese prefecture of Kanagawa.
