The eighth generation of the Volkswagen Golf has passed into the hands of ABT Sportsline, with up to 384 horsepower on the R version.
ABT Sportsline was interested in the Volkswagen Golf from its first generation, in 1982, with a wide body kit for the Golf GTI that did not go unnoticed. Almost 40 years later, the eighth generation of the famous compact has passed into the hands of the German preparer, with modifications for each of the sports models in the range: GTI, GTD, GTI Clubsport et R.
To celebrate its 125 years, ABT Sportsline presents a new range of performance enhancements for the new Golf, with 19 and 20 inch black rims which bring an extra touch of aggressiveness with their glossy or matte finish, as well as a rear pillar sticker. A choice of short springs and a tailor-made exhaust line are also planned, but for now it’s at the level of the engine preparation that ABT Sportsline has focused.
Thanks to a power unit called ABT Engine Control (AEC), the Volkswagen Golf GTI deliver no less than 290 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque, a gain of 45 horsepower and 40 Nm compared to the standard version (245 horsepower and 370 Nm). The Golf GTI Clubsport develops as for her 360 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, a gain of 60 horsepower and 50 Nm compared to the standard version (300 horsepower and 400 Nm).
For Diesel enthusiasts, ABT Sportsline also offers to upgrade the version Golf GTD at 230 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, a gain of 30 horsepower and 40 Nm compared to the standard version (200 horsepower and 400 Nm). Finally, the most powerful version of the Golf VIII is the Golf R, with 320 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque as standard: ABT has drawn no less than 384 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque, a gain of 64 horsepower and 50 Nm additional.
