After unveiling the new 308, Peugeot will continue to renew its range. Find out what the brand has in store for us until 2024.
Peugeot hasn’t stopped roaring. After having struck a big blow in 2019 with its new 208, which is now one of the bestsellers on the French market, the lion brand will continue the renewal of its models in the months and years to come. While launching from new products…
At the very bottom of the range, it will start with the 108. Unfortunately for his fans, the little city dweller will bow out at the end of the year. And like his cousin the Citroën C1, the baby lioness will not have the right to descendants. In a segment that is difficult to make profitable, the Stellantis group, recently born from the merger between PSA and Fiat-Chrysler, prefers to give priority to the Fiat brand and its Panda.
Launched in 2019, the 208 will obviously not follow the same path as its little sister 108. The best-selling model in France in 2020, it will be renewed in summer 2023 on the occasion of his mid-career restyling. But given its current success, Peugeot should evolve it only by small touches. A sports version badgée PSE (170 hp or 200 hp?) should also see the light of day
On the top segment, the star is the 308. Peugeot unveiled in March the third generation of the compact. With its more dynamic look, its new vintage logo and its plug-in hybrid engines (180 and 225 hp), she is expected in concessions in September-October 2021. It will be followed in early 2022 by its SW estate declination unveiled recently.
Peugeot will quickly try to capitalize on the expected success of its compact by declining it in a new cross-sedan or crossover coupe version. This very fashionable model, with a length of approximately 4.50 m, will take up the undersides and blocks of the 308 III and will be positioned facing the new Renault Arkana. It could be called … 4008 or 308 Cross or even 308 X. Its presentation will take place next year for a launch at the end of 2022-beginning of 2023 (see Auto Plus number 1711 of June 18, 2021).
On the side of family sedans, the 508 now playing sports with the arrival this year of a 360 hp rechargeable hybrid PSE version. Enough to keep the sedan in the spotlight for some time to come. Then it will be time for her to go through the box restyling. The facelift is scheduled for the end of 2022. This will then be the opportunity to move upmarket and generalize 48v light hybridization across the range.
At the ludospaces, the Scratches was launched in 2018 and currently available in a 100% electric version e-Rifter which announces 136 hp and 280 km of autonomy, like its cousin the Citroën ë-Berlingo.
SUV department, the new 2008, launched in 2020, has already comfortably established itself in the segment of city or urban models. Available in petrol and diesel, it is also offered in a 100% electric e-2008 variant. Its restyling, probably modeled on that of the 208, is not planned before 2023.
His big brothers 3008 and 5008 on the other hand passed on the billiards at the end of the year 2020. The two models then gained muscle and a new front face. They also benefited from a welcome technology update.
The new and third generation is expected in 2023. Probably in the spring. The 3008 will be the first to take advantage of it and one of the main novelties will be the arrival of a 100% electric version which will be based on the new eVMP platform. Like the 308, the compact SUV could also be available in a coupe version. Probably as early as 2024.
