The Stellantis group has appointed Uwe Hochgeschurtz, the current boss of Renault Germany, Austria and Switzerland, to head the Opel brand.
Things are moving at Opel. And not just in the range, where the new Astra will soon make its debut. It is also activated behind the scenes. The Stellantis group has just put a new pilot at the helm of the German brand.
Uwe Hochgeschurtz, who currently holds the post of Managing Director of Renault Germany, Austria and Switzerland, was appointed head of Opel. He will take office from 1is September 2021 and will replace Michael Lohscheller who decided to take on a new professional challenge outside of Stellantis.
After management studies in Germany (Wuppertal and Cologne), the United Kingdom (Birmingham) and France (Paris Dauphine), Uwe Hochgeschurtz began his career in the automotive world at Ford in 1990. He then joined Volkswagen in 2001 then Renault in 2004.
Its mission will be to carry out the development of Opel at a time when the brand is beginning to expand its international distribution, particularly in China, and is entering the era of electrification.
