Smart has unveiled a new teaser photo of its future 100% electric SUV, which will be presented at the Munich motor show in September.
This new model will be Smart’s first since the German firm became a joint venture between Daimler and the Chinese Geely, and will mark the renewal of the brand, with a radical change in terms of design and positioning.
We discover in this new photo a black roof, probably in glass, with contrasting golden patterns and surrounded by a matching roof line. Previous sketches have also suggested rounded shapes, towering roof racks, wide wheels, and pointed headlights.
Better known internally as the code HX11, the future 100% electric SUV by Smart sera made in China, and based on the SEA platform (Sustainable Experience Architecture) shared with the future Volvo XC20 SUV, the Swedish brand having also passed under the fold of Geely since 2010.
According to the latest information, the future small Smart SUV should be equipped with a 100% electric motor of 250 horsepower, powered by a lithium-ion battery of approximately 70 kWh capacity and housed in the floor, which would provide range of about 500 km. The model should also be equipped with fast charging with 800 volt technology.
Smart’s future SUV will be presented at the IAA Mobility salon in Munich, which will open from September 7 to 12, 2021.
