The Chinese manufacturer is releasing a civilian version of its Warrior M50. Chances are, her look vaguely reminds you of something!
It is a fact known to all: Chinese manufacturers regularly copy foreign productions. This time it is an American brand that “inspired” Dongfeng. The Chinese group is indeed launching a new civilian 4 × 4. And the latter is reminiscent of the HMMWV models, better known as the Hummer.
Initially intended for purely military use, this Hummer made in China began production in 2006 using American coins. Little by little, Dongfeng switched to its own components before considering a civilian version in 2008. But multiple delays postponed development to 2017. It is finally in 2021 that the Warrior M50 is born.
We recognize without a doubt the massive and square design of the famous American Army Humvee popularized by many films. then by Hollywood stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger. The significant ground clearance, with the large wheels, the slightly inclined hood, a straight windshield with the wipers articulated from above. All that’s missing is the bar grille!
If the civilian version of the Hummer has been approved to meet the wishes of a few stars who need to be noticed, the raison d’être of its Chinese equivalent is quite different. Indeed, Dongfeng hopes to sell its Warrior M50 to the police, government agencies or farmers. The single cab pickup version should be the most popular. However, there is also a double cabin or even a van version.
