This is no joke worthy of a late April Fool’s joke… Ford is developing a gasoline-smelling perfume for its new electric cars!
According to a survey commissioned by the American manufacturer Ford, « almost one in five drivers said they would miss the smell of gasoline the most if they switched to an electric vehicle, and nearly 70% said they would miss the smell of gasoline in a certain way”.
Ford decided to develop a new fragrance, called Mach-Water GT. You guessed it, this perfume smells of essence: “It’s a high-end fragrance that fuses smoky accords, rubber aspects and even an animal element to give a nod to the Mustang heritage” promises the builder.
This scent is meant compensate for the absence of gasoline odor in electric cars, like the latest electric Mustang Mach E.
There are many drivers who do not see any problem in migrating from a thermal car to an electric car.
But if they are used to large displacement, like a Ford Mustang for example, they might miss it ”a good smell of gasoline”Which usually stays on your fingertips when you have finished refueling your sports car.
In the same way that some manufacturers imagine artificial sounds for their electric vehicles, which drive in silence, Ford is tackling the lack of smell that can reign in its battery-powered car.
