Mini unveils a new special series in homage to John Cooper, called Anniversary Edition and limited to 740 copies, including 74 for the French market.
60 years ago, Mini began a collaboration with John Cooper, with the very first Mini Cooper launched in September 1961. To mark this anniversary, the British firm is launching today a new special edition of the Mini, available in 3 doors or in Cabrio, and equipped with historical nods in homage to John Cooper, who died in 2000.
This Mini Anniversary Edition is offered in France with the Rebel Green body color, associated with white contrasting elements: roof, exterior mirror caps, door handles, hood strips, and headlight and taillight surrounds. There are also several elements painted in Piano Black, such as the gas hatch or the grille insert, as well as a red border on the front face.
The standard equipment also includes 18-inch two-tone “Circuit Spoke” alloy wheels, “Cooper” signatures on the door sills, side vents, C-pillars as well as the Nappa leather steering wheel insert, a sports antenna, carbon tailpipes, as well as ventilated John Cooper Works brake discs. These elements are completed by stickers with the number “74”, which can be found on the hood and the doors: a symbolic number that refers to the number that the Mini Cooper Classic wore when it won the circuit for the first time.
Inside, the John Cooper Works sport seats are upholstered in leather / Dinamica Carbon Black, the headliner is anthracite, the pedals in stainless steel, while the decorative inserts are painted in Piano Black. On the insert located to the left of the steering wheel, we also find the signatures de John, Mike et Charlie Cooper, while a specific sticker numbered “1 of 740” John Cooper’s signature is affixed to the inside of the driver’s door frame.
The Mini Anniversary Edition will be produced in a limited series of 740 units worldwide, of which only 74 will be marketed in France, where it will only be offered in a John Cooper Works version (the other countries will also benefit from the Cooper and Cooper S engines). Price level, count from 44,700 euros and 47,700 euros, respectively for the 3-door and Cabrio versions.
