This 1987 Saab 900 for sale on eBay is anything but ordinary: it comes with a 5.0-liter V8 engine, and a series of performance modifications.
The Saab 900 is one of those models prized by lovers of old Swedish cars, which is unlike any other car, and was produced in just over 900,000 copies in 3-door coupé silhouettes, 4 and 5-door sedans, as well as in convertible . Originally the most powerful engine was a turbocharged 185 horsepower four-cylinder, but that probably wasn’t enough for this American owner.
This one obviously wanted to transform his quiet Swedish coupe into a racing beast, by grafting a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine displacement, the power of which has not been specified, however, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Other performance changes include an Edelbrock Performer intake, MSD timing, Accel electronic ignition, upgraded aluminum radiator, revised suspensions, and even a 9-inch Ford rear differential.
The exterior styling of this Saab 900 is also unique, with a two-tone livery associating purple in the upper part, with gray in the lower part. The set is completed by aluminum rims signed Weld Racing, Hella fog lamps, an air intake on the hood, as well as “Cobra” and “5.0” badges.
The interior also highlights the purple hue, contrasting with yellow accents. There are two racing seats, harnesses, a roll bar, and even a new gear lever. The dashboard was borrowed from a Ford Mustang, and features digital dials. There are also electric windows, electric locks, power steering, an adjustable steering column, a car radio and a sunroof.
According to its owner, who listed his Saab 900 on eBay, the car only traveled 5,348 miles (the equivalent of 8.607 km) since she received her new V8 engine. The starting price was set at $ 25,995, or approximately 21.900 euros.
