On July 15, torrential rain swept through western Germany and eastern Belgium, causing devastating floods. The most recent death toll shows 174 deaths for Germany alone. The affected region is that of the legendary Nürburgring circuit (and Spa-Francorchamps). And that’s why Misha Charoudin, a YouTuber specializing in the most famous track in the world, decided to put his activities on hold to assist disaster-stricken residents.
On the move on the day of the floods, he returns home to find his personal car destroyed. Fortunately, Audi has just lent him an RS6 for a promotional operation. When going to the devastated areas, Misha decides to take the wheel of the break of 600 ch. And over the next two weeks, the Audi RS6, Misha and his team will come to the aid of the surrounding villages every day. They evacuate the damaged houses, cleared the mud, sent volunteers. And in every video, in every social media post, theAudi RS6 is a star : Misha sells her qualities. Comfort, roominess, performance, fun, the overpowered station wagon seems to be theperfect tool for this occasion
– and at the same time recovers an unexpected advertising campaign. But there, Audi Germany does not see this story the same way. The brand broke an email to Misha Charoudin, to express its disagreement on the use of RS6, and concluded his message by “we sincerely hope that the car will be rendered in perfect condition« .
Understandable, when you know that the station wagon is sold more than € 135,000 in France. But what miss for brand communication! Audi could have benefited from the efforts of the youtubeur to highlight the reliability, performance, comfort and versatility of its star model.
Instead, the brand is now under a “bad buzz”, accused of not making an effort to help the victims of a disaster shaking Germany.
