Rivian presents the galley option for its R1T electric pickup. Unfoldable, it has complete equipment for cooking in the heart of nature.
Electric pick-ups are starting to appear in the wake of Tesla’s Cybertruk (still long overdue). Among the new arrivals, is the American start-up Rivian. While its R1T pickup was presented in 2018, it is getting closer and closer to commercialization. While an optional kitchen was announced in 2019, it is now possible to see it in real life!
The pick-up is the professional machine but also of leisure par excellence. It is indeed capable of carrying heavy loads through all terrains. The Rivian R1T pushes the concept even further. He indeed has the possibility to embark a real kitchen in a dedicated space.
The latter is located between the bucket and the cabin. Called Gear Tunnel, it can be used in several ways: compartment for a second battery, additional storage or, like here a kitchen!
Presented by Chief Engineer Rachel Jukes and Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe the kitchen slips out of the tunnel and unfolds quickly. We then discover two 1140 W induction hobs, a sink with a water pump and a set of titanium tableware. It is placed in a drawer with special protection against vibrations. We also find two 110 V outlets for connecting various kitchen tools.
The cost of this option on the Rivian R1T pickup will be $ 5,000 (around € 4,200).
