SsangYong has unveiled the first sketches of its X200 project, a future model that will take the form of an adventurer SUV, looking like a Jeep Wrangler.
Despite its recent financial difficulties, the Korean manufacturer wants to rebuild its health, and is working on the renewal of its future models.
SsangYong Motor Company has just unveiled the first sketches of the X200 project, a future SUV that embodies the brand’s new vision and philosophy: « Powered by Toughness » (driven by robustness), which revolves around themes of power and modernity, and which can be found on the also recently announced electric J100.
With its angular and muscular lines, SsangYong’s future SUV is reminiscent of its American counterparts, such as the Jeep Wrangler, but also the Ford Bronco, as well as, to a lesser extent, the Suzuki Jimny or the Land Rover Defender. A fair return to basics, since the first SsangYong Korando from 1983 was none other than a rebadged Jeep CJ-7, and a trend which is spreading with manufacturers like Dacia, evidenced by the Bigster concept.
“We have reinterpreted our vision for our future design and our product philosophy, building on our heritage. This is a very exciting time for SsangYong, who will build on the history and legacy of their unique, and authentically SUV, achievements to impress their future customers ”, says Lee Kang, Design Director of SsangYong.
