As an official partner, BMW M unveils its new safety car for the MotoE championship, which will replace the BMW i8.
BMW has long been a partner of MotoGP, providing safety cars as well as cars to championship winning riders. Today, to accompany the electric counterpart of the famous championship, baptized MotoE, the safety car is always provided by BMW, but necessarily, it adapts accordingly by becoming 100% electric.
This new safety car is based on the BMW i4 M50 as standard, the first 100% electric model in the BMW M range, with its four-wheel drive as well as its strong engine of 544 horsepower, allowing him to swallow the 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds. It is thus more powerful than a BMW M3, which delivers 510 horsepower in its recent Competition version, with comparable performance.
For the occasion, the BMW i4 M50 adopts a specific dress matt gray, accompanied by stickers and fluorescent yellow elements: radiator grille, side scoops, or even rear apron. The BMW M colors are also present on the sides, the rear extractor as well as the front bumper, not to mention the traditional light LED ramp on the roof.
The BMW i4 M50 Safety Car will make its first turns on the occasion of the Austrian Grand Prix, to be held on Sunday August 15, 2021. The production version will be released in November 2021, at a starting price from € 71,650.
