Produced from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is truly an off-roader. pure and hard. Completely devoid of electronics, the Japanese are at ease in the most difficult situations. Considered a legendary model by 4X4 enthusiasts, it is highly prized on the collector’s vehicle market and its rating made a spectacular leap these last years.

Numerous modifications

Lover of pretty Things, the American actor Tom Hanks has built up a small collection of cars over the years. Not taking enough advantage of it, he preferred to part with a few and entrusted the sale to the Bonhams auction house. Among these is a 1980 FJ40 which was completely rebuilt according to the wishes of the interpreter of Forrest Gump. Under the hood is a 4.3-liter V6 of GM origin developing 180 hp which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 4 × 4 is based on 15-inch rims and its suspensions have been modernized. Air conditioning has also been added, as well as a radio with multiple speakers.

Stored for several years in a garage box, the Toyota will be sold on August 13 “in its own juice”. Counterpart in the State of California to run with its modifications, it is estimated between 64,000 and 110,000 €. The Airstream caravan, a Ford F350 pickup and a Tesla Model S, all three also owned by the actor, will also be sold during this exceptional sale.
