The end is near for the Ford GT! The supercar will set off in style, with a very special edition dubbed the Heritage Edition.
Launched in 2016, the Ford GT supercar is approaching end of his career. Ford has in fact planned to end production in 2022. And to get off to a good start, the GT wins an ultra-limited edition in homage to the development prototypes of the legendary Ford GT40.
This Ford GT Heritage Edition is painted with GT / 105 chassis colors, the last GT40 prototype still in existence. It therefore sports an off-white, a matte black front cover, and black stripes. Inside, we find blue Alcantara and visible carbon. Everything is fairly faithful to the 1964 car, selected as a founding moment in Ford’s history.
This Ford GT ’64 Heritage Edition will likely be the last in a line of limited series, launched in 2006 on the previous Ford GT. Since then, Ford has dedicated each year of GT production to a particular example in the history of the supercar. We therefore find liveries tribute to Ford GT40s who won Le Mans, or to the one driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.
As a reminder, the modern Ford GT is a supercar de 660 ch, whose spectacular look is the result of joint development with the Ford racing team. And if this retro livery tempts you, know that it will be difficult to get it. Ford does not specify how many copies it will be produced, but it is already difficult to buy a “normal” Ford GT, since each customer must be manufacturer approved.
And that’s without speaking, of course, of the price, probably stratospheric. But it will likely pay off for future owners: these limited editions are often resold well over a million dollars, exclusivity requires.
