how to protect yourself from the hot weather?

As soon as the heat arrives, it can be difficult to endure the high temperatures. Especially if you are in a confined space like a motorhome. Here are some tips for keeping cool.

Even though this summer isn’t the hottest we’ve seen in the hexagon, the hot weather can still come by the end of August. And in the face of high temperatures, the practice of camping-car can be quite trying if you are not well prepared.

Here are some tips for better living an episode of high heat once in your motorhome.

Park in the shade as much as possible

First obvious advice, if you do not want to have direct heat in addition to high ambient temperatures, choose a location The shadow.

But unfortunately all stage areas do not offer shaded pitches. During the hottest hours of the day, it may therefore be interesting to make a detour to a parking lot or a location sheltered from the sun.

Activate the air conditioning, without overdoing it

If your motorhome has air conditioning, you can run the engine and the air conditioning. The ideal is to turn on the air conditioning before sleeping and then turn everything off at bedtime.

When you are driving, you can of course activate the air conditioning, but without abusing it : there must not be too large a gap between the inside of your vehicle and the outside, at the risk of even more fatigue if you set foot outside. For example, favor a temperature between 23 ° and 25 °

.

Drive in the cooler hours and close the shutters

If your vehicle does not have air conditioning, it is better to avoid driving during the hottest hours of the day so as not to accumulate heat in the passenger compartment.

To optimize the maintenance of freshness in your motorhome, you can also close your skylight shutters and all other stores that you have on your vehicle. Once these elements are closed, the sun no longer shines and you will avoid accumulating even more heat in your motorhome unnecessarily.

Hydratation & ventilation

Throughout the day, remember to hydrate yourself well. In period of high heat, it is recommended to drink at least 1.5 liters of water and up to 2.5 liters per day.

Also give your pets drink if you have them. You can also cool your body and head with a water spray.

When it comes to bedtime, you can try create a draft when the temperatures drop outside. If you are really too hot, you can sleep with a wet towel on your body. It is also necessary to favor the lower berths and avoid the folding beds and overcab beds: the heat accumulates in height.
