The new electric Fiat 500 has been put through Green NCAP tests, which assesses whether European cars are “green”, and earns the five-star rating.
On the model of the Euro NCAP crash tests, the tests Green NCAP assess the energy and ecological performance of cars sold in Europe.
The new Fiat 500 100% electric just got the maximum 5 star rating : it is the first model to have obtained in 2021 the maximum score in each of the three Green NCAP tests, and the only one to have obtained the score of 10/10 in “Energy efficiency index”.
The tested version is equipped with a three-phase synchronous permanent magnet electric motor of 118 horsepower (87 kW) for 220 Nm of torque, associated with a 42 kWh battery.
The new Fiat 500 is a 100% battery-electric city car, and as such does not emit any polluting gas at the exhaust: it is then quite easy for it to obtain the maximum score of 10/10 at the“Clean air index”. Same observation for the“Greenhouse gas index”, again with a maximum score of 10/10.
The difference can then be played out on the third component of evaluation, called “Energy efficiency index” : the average electricity consumption recorded during the various tests is 20.9 kWh/100 km, while the worst-case consumption is 25.8 kWh / 100 km. Green NCAP states that the new 500’s fuel efficiency is excellent compared to combustion engine cars, but not exceptional compared to other electric vehicles. However, these results also allow him to obtain the maximum score of 10/10 for this evaluation criterion.
