Elon Musk is not giving up hope and still wants to see the first Tesla car roll out of its Gigafactory in Berlin by the end of the year. But can the deadlines be met?
Elon Musk continues to build the Gigafactory in Grünheide, near Berlin in Germany. the Tesla boss wants to start production of its models before the end of the year.
During his visit to Germany, Elon Musk, the boss of the American electric car manufacturer Tesla, stressed the importance of starting production this year, according to the state government of Brandenburg.
Musk has made it clear how important it is to him that the tight schedule is met, Land Economics Minister Jörg Steinbach said. The boss of Tesla had also declared his desire to intensify communication on the site of the factory in Grünheide.
Since last year, Tesla has been on the construction site of its Berlin Gigafactory. The company wants to build around 500,000 cars per year. Originally, production was supposed to start in July 2021, but it is now the end of the year that is targeted.
Last May, Elon Musk had already visited the Berlin site again, and reminded everyone of the goal of opening the factory by the end of the year.
Even earlier in the year, in April, the boss of Tesla said to himself “irritated” by the slowness of the German bureaucracy concerning the delays accumulated by the opening of its Gigafactory.
The delay is due, among other things, to an addition to the approval request. A usinede batteries is also to be built in Grünheide, right next to the vehicle construction complex.
The environmental permit of the Land of Brandenburg is still pending. Internal problems related to construction planning are also the cause of this delay.
Rendezvous at the end of the year to see, or not, the first Tesla “made in Germany”!
