Competition Lotus … for the road!

A Lotus Type 62 approved for the road, benefiting from all the latest technological innovations of the brand. Did you dream of it? Radford did it!

Relaunched a few months ago, the brand Radford already presents its first project. This supercar neo-retro takes up the design and the name of the Lotus Type 62 which raced in competition during the year 1969. This one will be homologated for the road and available in three different versions for a total of 62 specimens.

Jenson Button at the wand

The Radford Type 62-2 is the brainchild of several businessmen, including Jenson Button, world champion of Formula 1 in 2009. An opportunity conducive to the creation of a real sports car, giving pride of place to the iconic Lotus Type 62 and the liveries of yesteryear.

And with a direct collaboration of the brand and several official pieces as a bonus! The whole game frame is taken from the latest Lotus (Evora, Demands) while the body is made of carbon fiber. These technical decisions allow the Type 62-2 to drop below the bar. 1 000 kg. But they should also raise the price of the 62 copies to a daring level of exclusivity.

Up to 600 hp!

All three versions of the 2-seater coupe are equipped with the same Original Toyota 3.5 liter V6, already present on the new Emira. Knowing that the power will be sent only to the rear wheels. And each model will of course have its own characteristics.

The Classic will appeal to purists and followers of “light is right”: 430 hp and manual gearbox. It has no spoiler and is fitted with 17-inch and 18-inch rims at the rear.

The Gold Leaf (red and white) is adorned with a retro livery, a nod to the Lotus Type 48B from 1968. It will develop 500 hp and has a “double duck tail” spoiler as well as a larger one inch front and rear.

Finally, 600 hp will be achieved in the future version JPS thanks to a different compressor. It will also be lightened with carbon rims and brake discs. The two higher configurations will automatically be associated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with limited-slip differential.

Radford also guarantees modern equipment. Bluetooth system, cameras instead of mirrors, “lift” system for speed bumps, etc. It almost feels like an everyday car. But you will have to wait a little longer. The first deliveries are expected in the current 2022.
