The Mercedes-AMG GT is about to bow out: production of the sporty coupe and convertible will cease by the end of 2021.
Presented at the Paris Motor Show 2014 and marketed in 2015, the Mercedes-AMG GT has since had many variations, whether in Coupé or Roadster variant, not to mention the very exclusive AMG GT Black Series, which crowns the range with its 730 horsepower.
The range was extended a little later, in 2018, with the arrival of the sedan version of the AMG GT (or “four-door coupe”), the fastest production sedan in the world with its 840 horsepower, which should be the only one to be kept within the range, if we are to believe the information unveiled by our colleagues from the Spanish magazine Motor.es.
Indeed, the order books of the Mercedes-AMG GT, Coupé and Roadster, have already been closed, and only copies ordered before October will continue to be produced until the end of 2021.
The model should then be replaced by the new generation of the Mercedes SL-Class, whose presentation should not be long any longer and which should, unsurprisingly, be available in a sporty version signed AMG. First launched in a discoverable version, the future SL could also be available in a coupe version.
The Mercedes-AMG GT, in Coupé and Roadster versions, should not be renewed: in fact, the demand for these pleasure silhouettes is down sharply all over the world, and Mercedes is seriously considering their future … .
