Ford already sees the end of the shortage

What future for the semiconductor shortage? Ford remains cautious but wants to be optimistic for the coming months. So much so that the American manufacturer has raised its objectives for the end of 2021.

By disclosing its financial results for the previous quarter, and posting its forecast for the end of the year, Ford is demonstratingsome optimism. And while some manufacturers see the semiconductor shortage lasting for many months to come, Ford says it is already seeing the end of it.

More ambitious goals for the end of 2021

Even though turnover fell 5% between July and September, Ford says that things could have been much worse : « It remains complicated to source semiconductors but the situation has clearly improved compared to the second quarter“, Describes a statement from the manufacturer.

Suddenly, Ford took the opportunity to raise its forecasts for the end of the year

. While the gross annual profit was expected to be around 10 billion dollars (8.62 billion euros), the target is now $ 11.5 billion (9.91 billion euros). Proof that Ford is rather optimistic about the shortage!

This is proof that the American manufacturer is rather confident about the situation of semiconductors in the coming months. This is also the second time this year that Ford has raised its earnings forecasts. Among the competitors, we notice conflicting predictions. Volkswagen had forecast that “the situation will ease” in the second half of 2021, while Renault has largely revised upwards the number of vehicles that cannot be produced in 2021.
